Using Offset Bench
Offset Bench is a calculation aid. Check every cut against your drawing, the fittings you actually buy and your local code before you cut pipe.
Simple offset
On the Offset tab enter the set (the distance between the two pipe centrelines), choose the angle and the fitting, and the app shows the travel, the run and the cut length. The cut length is the travel less the take-off of the two fittings and the weld gap at each end. Every result shows the numbers it was worked out from, line by line, so you can check it by hand. Lengths are typed on the keypad in inches (with fractions) or millimetres.
Fittings and take-offs
The Fittings tab lists the centre-to-end take-off of 90 and 45 degree long-radius butt-weld elbows by nominal pipe size, with the catalogue it was taken from. Fittings you buy may differ, so you can add your own fitting and type its take-off once; the app then uses it exactly as typed and looks nothing up.
Rolling offset, mitre and cope (Pro)
Pro adds rolling offsets (rise and roll), mitre cuts for a turn in pieces, and the ordinates for a saddle or lateral cope that you wrap round the pipe as a template. Without Pro the form is visible but the result stays locked.
When a cut cannot be made
If the numbers cannot work, for example an offset so short that the fittings overlap, the app says so in plain words and shows the nearest valid value. A zero or negative cut length is never shown as a result. Change a value and try again.
Weld gap and units
Open the More tab to change between inches and millimetres and to set the weld gap left at each fitting. The gap is shown in every working.
Saved jobs
Choose Save to jobs on a result. Open it again from More, then Saved jobs, where you can also rename it, export a plain-text cut list or delete it. Free keeps one saved job; Pro keeps as many as you like.
Back up and restore
Open the More tab, find Backup and restore and choose Save a backup file. The app asks where to save the file; it is written only there. To restore, choose Restore from a backup file in the same section and pick the file. After you confirm, the backup replaces the jobs, your own fittings and settings on this device, so make a new backup first if you want to keep what is there. A backup is a single JSON file from Offset Bench; other files are refused.
Free and Pro
Free includes the simple offset, the 90 and 45 degree take-off table, your own fittings, inches and millimetres, one saved job, backup and restore, and text export. Pro is a one-time purchase that adds rolling offsets, mitre cuts, saddle and lateral cope, and unlimited saved jobs.
Restore a purchase
Open the More tab, then Offset Bench Pro, and choose Restore purchase. Use the Google Play account that bought Pro and keep the device online while it checks. If checkout was interrupted, choose Restore purchase or Check purchase status before you try to buy again, and do not start another purchase while one is pending.
Storage trouble
If a save fails, the numbers you were working on stay on screen so you can try again. Check the free storage on the device. Do not clear app data to fix a save problem: that removes your jobs. Export a backup first if you can.
